A bivy bag is a long term investement and the better the bag quality, the longer you will have it. That said, you will need to take care of it, like any other piece of good kit. With the propper care, it is not unreasonable to get ten years or more out of a cared-for bivy bag. Always use a mat under you bivy bag ad remove sharp objects from your sleep area.
